Judith Sachwald, Director of the Division of Parole and Probation for over seven years has announced her retirement effective October 31, 2007. Ms. Sachwald has been a national leader in promoting evidence based practices in the area of community supervision of offenders. She has written numerous articles on the subject. The Summer 2007 issue of APPA's Perspectives contains the article "Proactive Community Supervision A Second Chance for Community Corrections and Supervisees" which she co-authored with Ernest Eley, Jr. Ms. Sachwald plans to spend time with her family and stay active in the community corrections field through consulting. In recognition of her contributions to the field of community corrections, Ms. Sachwald was a 2006 recipient of the MASCA Founders Award.
