MCJA Spring Conference infomation
Maryland Criminal Justice Association conference
In October two important events were held in Maryland. The first was the Maryland Criminal Justice Association conference, held in Ocean City. I attended and the picture shows me at the 92nd Street dunes crossing, only a few blocks from the site of the 2008 MASCA conference, the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel. I'm also wearing one of the MASCA 2007 shirts with the 2007 slogan "Sailing Into The Future With Success" imprinted on it. MASCA donated two shirts and some other MASCA logo items to MCJA for their scholarship fund silent auction. MCJA put on a quality conference with the theme of "Ethics: Personal and Professional". Outgoing president Jimmy Bone and incoming president Melinda Grenier graciously gave me a few minutes to tell the attendees about MASCA and distribute membership applications and a 2008 conference flyer to the conference attendees.
National Workshop on Adult and Juvenile Female Offenders
Later in October the 12th National Workshop on Adult and Juvenile Female Offenders was held in Baltimore. MASCA participated in this conference as a vendor and the picture above shows Valerie and Twanna spreading the word about MASCA and our programs and conference to one of the people in attendance. Thanks should also go to Randy Reynolds and Stella Barone (both from Maryland) for working our table at various times during this conference. So far this conference has generated some new members, some conference pre-registrations, and multiple workshop and vendor contacts. We also met a lot of fellow criminal justice professionals from across the country.
